The Roaches Trig Point
A landscape photography blog by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire based landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography.
Surprise, surprise it was back to The Roaches in the Staffordshire Peak District for this outing. I've photographed this location quite a bit, but hadn't got around to going 'up top'. On this particular evening the forecast was looking favourable, with a gentle breeze. I parked up at Roach End, and made my way up to the trig point to see what was to be had. There were a couple of women out with a dog, but after a few minutes they moved along the ridge, leaving me with the whole place to myself for the rest of the evening.
I'm not sure why I still hold any stall by the weather forecast. The gentle breeze turned out to be a lot fresher than forecast, so it was a struggle to keep the tripod steady. All of these compositions were with the tripod spread wide, and low on the ground. Whilst it would have nice to have captured a bit more background, with a higher tripod I was still pleased with the images I came away with.
