Autumn & Orton II

A landscape photography blog by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire based landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography.

The only upside to coming back from two weeks in the Mexican sun, was that Autumn was still happening. This could mean only one thing . . . back to Cannock Chase, Staffordshire to photograph the trees.

Once again I found myself at Birches Valley. This time I wandered a bit further afield through the pines to pick out some of the contrasting colours that were still on display.

It can be tricky making order from the chaos of woodland photography, and today was no exception. Whilst pleased with the images I can’t help but think they would be much stronger images had the leaves higher up the tree been in front of the trunk to the left. I did consider flexing my editing skills to clone the leaves over the trunk, but for now they are as they were taken.

I once again added the “Orton Effect”, and will continue to do this going forward.

You can view more images of from my gallery of trees.
