Doxey Pool Sunrise

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it previously but I had a drone for Christmas. I don’t have any particular interest in drones. Just as much as my tripod is a tool I thought a drone would allow me to get a different perspective, so another tool in the landscape photography arsenal.
The downside of having a drone at Christmas however is that’s it’s probably the worst time of year for flying. When you factor in the temperature, wind, and rain the opportunities to fly are more restricted. It was now the end of February and since Christmas I’d only had it out a couple of times on Wetley Moor getting the hang of the controls etc . . .
The forecast today was looking good, so I headed off to The Roaches to use it in anger. Sadly when I got up on top it was far too exposed, and whilst the wind was more manageable down below it was fresher up top. I did have a bit of a fly around, but not being very experienced I decided that the DJI Mini 2 being a sub 250g drone might struggle if I sent it up, and off, and I didn’t want a fly away on my first real outing.
In the end I settled for a few shots of Doxey Pool using the 14-30mm, and a low angle to get a slightly different perspective than what I’d captured previously. Not exactly the perspective I’d got in mind when I set off though!
