Roach End sunset.

This image is one of those that fall into the 'unexpected' category. I'd nipped out to Roach End in the Staffordshire Peak District, hoping to get a nice sunset shot. My plan was to capture the trees, and the ruined barn with the sun setting behind it. If you look at the image to the left, then essentially I'd be mid-left of picture, looking to the right.

As is so often the case there was no epic sunset, but I was quite pleased with how the trees, and the barn are catching the light in this shot, which was taken about 40 minutes, or so before sunset.

If I'm honest, whilst I love the light, I'm not totally happy with the composition, and will almost certainly go back and try this one again.

You can view more images from The Roaches, and my gallery of other Peak District locations.
