Dorothea
A selection of images from Dorothea by Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire based landscape photographer Rob Thorley Photography.
Dorothea is a disused slate quarry in the Nantlle Valley in North Wales. At this location you can find the last Cornish Beam Engine to be built, which remained in service until 1951. The mine closed in 1970. Once the pumps stopped the pits flooded, as they were dug below the water table.
