Baslow Poppy Field

The poppy field at Baslow in the Derbyshire Peak District turned into quite a controversial location. A photographer on one of the Facebook groups I follow shared some photographs of this spot. It's probably then safe to say 'all hell broke loose'. The evening I went to visit there was easily thirty to forty other photographers there, and is certainly the busiest location (photography wise) I've ever visited. Unfortunately not everyone was as respectful as they should have been, and there was a certain amount of damage done to the field, whilst the poppies were flowering.
This spot pretty much had it all. Trees, the 'Bee Hive', views to Chatsworth House, and of course the poppies themselves. There was some beautiful light just before the sunset, and unusually for myself I took some images hand held.
I was very pleased with the images I took, and hung around 15 - 20 minutes after sunset in the hope of getting some afterglow. There didn't appear to be anything in the offing, so packed up, and walked back to the car - school boy error. Just as I reached the car, and took a final look back at the field the sky exploded. Unable to get back, and setup in time it'll go down as a missed opportunity. I thought I'd been patient, but I guess I hadn't. Then again how long do you hang around after sunset?
